Paris Masters: Djokovic advances

Thursday, October 30 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

There were wins for Novak Djokovic, Kevin Anderson and Tomáš Berdych on day two of the Paris Masters.

    Script:

One week after Novak Djokovic became a father for the first time, the world number one eased past Philipp Kohlschreiber in the Paris Masters second round on Tuesday.

Djokovic's wife, Jelena, gave birth to their first child, Stefan, and the defending champion recorded a 6-3 6-4 victory. Kid stuff indeed.

Djokovic now faces the winner of Gaël Monfils versus John Isner.

Kevin Anderson also progresses after a 6-4 7-6 win against Santiago Giraldo. The 28-year-old goes on to face Stanislas Wawrinka or Dominic Thiem.

In the last game of the day, Tomas Berdych needed three sets to overcome Adrian Mannarino.

The 29-year-old lost the second set tie-breaker but recovered to prevail 6-4 6-7 6-2.

The fifth seed now takes on either qualifier Sam Querrey or 12th seed Feliciano Lopez in the third round.
