  • Intro:

There were wins for Jack Sock, Richard Gasquet and Julien Benneteau in the first round of the Paris Masters.

    Script:

Jack Sock of the United States raced into round two of the Paris Masters after cruising past Pablo Andujar of Spain.

    The 6ft 3in qualifier won 6-1 6-1 in just 67 minutes.

Richard Gasquet is also through to the next stage but his match against Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin was a far less straightforward affair.

The Frenchman recovered from a set down to secure a 6-7 6-2 4-0 victory when qualifier Istomin retired in the third set after twisting his right knee.

Gasquet's compatriot Julien Benneteau had a much easier passage into round two, easing past Taiwan's Lu Yen-Hsun in straight sets.

    The 14th seed took 68 minutes to record a 6-3 6-4 win.

Benneteau now faces eighth seed Andy Murray, whom the Frenchman has never beaten.
