Tommy Robredo advanced to the final of the Valencia Open on Saturday (25th October) after a straight-sets win over Jeremy Chardy.

    Script:

Tommy Robredo faced Jeremy Chardy for the right to play Andy Murray in the Valencia ATP final.

The Frenchman putting this return wide, giving Robredo the first set.

The Spaniard was then on the back foot in the second, a break down.

However the World No 21 found this backhand shot on break point to claw his way back into the set.

Both players held serve from there and the match went into a tiebreak.

Chardy went on the charge at 2-1 down, yet Robredo with this passing shot to take a mini break.

The Frenchman won just one more point before the Spaniard had four points for the win.

Robredo teased the World No 34 into the net and that was enough to force the error.

The win for Robredo was his 500th on the ATP tour and he'll now go in search of his first Valencia title against Murray.
