    Script:

Serena Williams reached her third consecutive WTA final but the world number one didn't have it all her own way against Caroline Wozniacki.

The eighth seed was running away with the opening set when Williams smashed her racquet in frustration.

Wozniacki went on to take the set 6-2 before Williams recovered to level in the second.

The third set was an epic affair, lasting longer than the first two combined.

Williams reeled off five straight points and finally sealed a 2-6 6-3 7-6 victory on her fourth match point after two hours and 13 minutes.

Williams will face a rematch against Simona Halep on Sunday, four days after suffering her heaviest defeat in 16 years against the Romanian in the group stage.

Williams is now through to the WTA final for the seventh time in her illustrious career, capturing the season-ending title four times in 2001, 2009, 2012 and 2013, and finishing runner-up twice in 2002 and 2004.
