Roger Federer will take on David Goffin in the final of the ATP 500 Swiss Indoors Basel event after both were taken to three sets in the semis on Saturday (25th October).

Semi-finals day at the Basel ATP500 event on Saturday.

David Goffin took charge of the first semi, winning the first set 6-4 against 17 year-old Croatian wild card Borna Coric.

Coric caused a stir on Friday in putting Rafa Nadal out of the tournament, and his found his tune in the second, taking it with this ace.

The momentum shifted again in the decider. Goffin breaking for a 3-1 lead.

After more than two hours on court, Goffin closed out a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win and extended his remarkable run, not losing since June.

Goffin's opponent would either be Ivo Karlovic or top seed and five-time champion Roger Federer.

Neither player dropped their serve during the first set, then at 9-8 Federer sent the Basle crowd into raptors.

The always dangerous Croat broke to lead 5-3 in the second and served the game out here.

In all, Karlovic threw down 33 aces, but there were two double faults, the most crucial coming at 2-1 and a break point down in the decider.

Federer closed out a 7-6(8), 3-6, 6-3 win in an hour and 43 minutes for his 12th career win over the Croat in thirteen meetings.

The Swiss maestro has met Goffin just once before though, at the French Open in 2012, winning that in four set.
