While golfers had to negotiate blustery winds in the second round, it was man's best friend who held them up during the third round of Asian Tour's Macau Open on Saturday.

Once play got underway, the tournaments headline act Ernie Els, carded his best round of the week, to jump from 48th spot to 22nd at two under overall.

Anirban Lahiri, who slipped after an explosive 61 in the first round, seems to be back on track after a much improved round of 67.

Lahiri's tee shot on the sixth hole stood out as it ended a foot from the hole to give him a birdie.

The Indian is in the second spot at twelve-under overall.

He'll be in the final group on Sunday, along with overnight co-leader Scott Hend.

The Australian is chasing back-to-back title wins after taking out the European Tour's Hong Kong Open last week.

Hend started brilliantly with four consecutive birdies from 2nd to fifth hole.

The Aussie also had the shot of the day on the 15th - a superb approach that stopped inches from the hole.

Hend knocked that in and later finished the round with a birdie on the 18th for a round of 67.

He's fourteen-under and takes a two shot lead going into the final round.
