"I really wanted to be there to defend the yellow jersey - to fight for the yellow jersey again. For me, it has been a really big goal. Not just to win the Tour de France and then disappear. I really wanted to come back and to show that I can do it again so it was a really big disappointment. All the training and all the preparation to get into the best condition is just gone in two seconds when you crash so it's really difficult and it was a tough moment for me that day. But I think what defines us in sport is the difficult moments and how you come back from that. So that's given me a lot of motivation and at the end I have been really pleased that I was able to come back form it."

"I would like to beat Alberto (Contador). In the Vuelta (a Espana) we were both coming there after injury but he was really strong and I did everything I could to try and drop him in the climbs but he was too strong in the Vuelta and he definitely deserved to win the race. He was really strong."

"Anything is possible at this moment. I think that the Giro presents a really good opportunity with the parcours (the profile or the stage of the route) that they have. I have never been at the top end of a Giro d'Italia so this could be a really good opportunity for me. But again the Tour de France could be a really good opportunity for me. A lot of climbing. A lot of mountains - which suits me very well also. So we have to see. We have to see exactly what the priorities are going to be between myself and the team and also the riders who will be competing in these races."
