  • Intro:

Ana Ivanovic recovered from her opening WTA Finals defeat in Singapore to record a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Canada's Eugenie Bouchard on Wednesday (22 October) - and put herself back into contention for a place in the semi-finals.

    Script:

Ana Ivanovic took on Eugenie Bouchard in the Red Group at the WTA Finals in Singapore, looking to bounce back after defeat in her opening match.

Bouchard also lost her opening game, but it was Ivanovic who showed early intent by breaking the Canadian's serve at the first time of asking.

Bouchard struggled to respond by losing her second service game and could only get a single game on the board as Ivanovic took a one-set lead.

It was a closer contest in the second set as both players relinquished opening service games, and despite Bouchard initially saving five break points in the seventh game, Ivanovic eventually secured the break.

Bouchard tried to fight back, but she squandered two break points as Ivanovic held and then broke her opponent once again to wrap up the match, with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
