  • Intro:

Joost Luiten extended his unbeaten run at the World Match Play Championship by easily defeating Spain's Pablo Larrazabal 6 and 5 on Saturday (October 18) to move into the semi-finals, along with George Coetzee, Joost Luiten and Henrik Stenson.

    Script:

The quarter-finals of the World Match Play Championship featured an outsider on form.

George Coetzee only got into the tournament on Monday as a replacement for the injured Thomas Bjorn.

Yet he faced in-form Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed, the American rolling in an eagle at the 6th to tie the game up with the South African.

Coetzee would birdie on 12 to move one ahead and he then holed out here on the 16th to take the game 2&1.

Victor Dubuisson took an early lead in his quarter-final match up with Mikko Ilonen, setting up for a birdie at the first.

Yet the Finn came back and moved one ahead just after the turn. Here not leaving this putt short at the 10th.

Ilonen winning by two after the 18th.

Joost Luiten maintained his 100 per cent record and recorded the largest winning margin of the week by thrashing Pedro Larrazabal 6 and 5. Here going five up after 7.

Luiten takes on Ilonen in Sunday's second semi.

And South African Coetzee will face the Ice Man Henrik Stenson, the Swede beating his countryman Jonas Blixt.

The World No 5 was taken up the 18th, yet won through to semis by two holes taking the 18th with a birdie following this delicate chip.
