    Script:

Having received a bye in the first round at the Erste Bank Open, Andy Murray faced Vasek Pospisil in the second round on Thursday.

The 27-year-old was made to work hard against Pospisil, eventually overcoming the Canadian in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Murray's victory sets up a quarter-final match against Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, who emerged victorious from an intense three-setter against Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky.

The second seed here in Vienna, Murray faces a potential final against top seed David Ferrer, who earlier beat Germany's Tobias Kamke 7-5, 6-1 to reach the last eight of the competition.

Currently ranked 10th in the world, Murray added the tournament to his tour schedule in an effort to reassert himself into the top eight, which would earn him a place at the ATP World Tour Finals in London in November.
