  • Intro:

Post-game reaction after the San Francisco Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 to take a 3-1 lead in the National League Championship Series on Wednesday at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Bruce Bochy, San Francisco Giants Manager
(On rally in sixth inning and Yusmeiro Petit)

"It has to start somewhere, and that one inning it started with (Juan) Perez. He goes up there and finds a way to get a walk and, of course, (Brandon) Crawford had a big day today. And (Matt) Duffy lays down a great bunt, and then you're hoping to put the ball in play and good things happen. And we had speed on third base. We were going on contact there, and (Juan) Perez got a great jump. And great base-running by (Brandon) Crawford on the other ground ball there that (Joe) Panik hit. If you're not hitting the long ball, you have to find ways to manufacture runs, and the guys did a great job. That's quite a comeback, and it all starts with (Yusmeiro) Petit. Vogey (Ryan Vogelsong) was a little bit off, and you need your long guy to go out there and hopefully give you some innings, a couple of things there. You know, he gives you a chance to come back, which we did, and also allows you to still have your guys that you want to use late in the ballgame. So (Yusmeiro) Petit saved us tonight with his effort."

SOUNDBITE (English): Buster Posey, San Francisco Giants Catcher
    (On keys to win)

"Yeah I thought the inning, I think it was bottom of the fourth, when we scored two (runs), that was a really big inning. To, you know, (Joaquin) Arias getting on (base) there to start with and then able to drive him in there with two outs. Pablo (Sandoval) getting a hit and then (Hunter) Pence picking up another two-out RBI, kind of getting us right back in it. It was nice and then having (Yusmeiro) Petit come in and strike out the side, get back in the dugout, and then really, gave us another solid couple of innings. Yeah, it was a big part of the game, right around there, that fourth (inning), fifth (inning), sixth (inning) part."
