  • Intro:

Post-game reaction after the Kansas City Royals defeated the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 on Wednesday, to complete a four-game sweep of the American League Championship Series.
They will face the winner of the NLCS between San Francisco and St. Louis in the World Series, starting on Tuesday.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager:

"It was really ... the starting pitching was phenomenal. The bullpen was, man, unbelievable. (Kelvin) Herrera, (Wade) Davis, Greg Holland. Clutch hitting. We had clutch hits by just about everybody up and down the lineup. (Mike) Moustakas had a phenomenal series. (Eric Hosmer) had a phenomenal series. Lorenzo Cain, phenomenal. Salvador (Perez) did a great job of handling the pitching staff, and it was just a whole team effort."

SOUNDBITE (English): Lorenzo Cain, Kansas City Royals Outfielder, on being named the ALCS MVP:

"A lot of guys stepped up. Our entire bullpen, lights out the entire postseason. Moose, Hos, Billy (Butler), a lot guys stepped up. I mean, any of those guys or even the entire bullpen is definitely deserving. Luckily I got it. And like I say, I'm just trying to do whatever it takes, get on base, bunt guys over - whatever it takes to find a way to help this team win ballgames. I'm just going to try to continue to do that throughout the World Series, as well."

SOUNDBITE (English): Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles Manager:

"I don't know. It's disappointing, I'm frustrated. You know, not frustrated but disappointed for our guys and our fans. It's not something, it's not like it's something we didn't do; it was more of what they did. And it wasn't like somebody wanted something more than somebody else. It's just, you saw how close the games were. And it's more a testament to what they did and, obviously, they were playing great defensively - I congratulate them. Ned (Yost) did a great job, the whole organisation, so they get a chance to represent the American League now in the World Series, and we wish them well."
