  • Intro:

Post-game reaction after the Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series Tuesday night at Kaufman Stadium.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Ned Yost, Royals manager

(talks about the two defensive plays by 3rd baseman Mike Moustakas)

"The ball the first play the line drive I didn't see from where I was standing I didn't see any way he could get a glove on that ball just tremendous reactions made a tremendous play on that but the next play was even bigger because at that situation and I think that was in the sixth inning you want to go out and try and get the first out in that situation you want you don't want trouble developing where you got to bring Herrera in for more than a one or a two out stint in the sixth inning and that was a huge out for us to start that inning."

SOUNDBITE (English): Mike Moustakas, Royals Third baseman

(says he's not surprised by how well the team is playing)

"You know there's always these surprising things that happen in baseball and you can't really explain them but you know for the most part no not really, not the plays in the outfield not our pitchers not really we've been doing it all year and we've been playing good defence scoring timely runs and doing the little things that have gotten us to this point there's still some plays that I'm sitting back like wow I don't know how Cain got there or how Gordo got there but it's almost like you expect them to make those plays."

SOUNDBITE (English): Buck Showalter, Orioles manager

(on sticking with starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen in the sixth inning)

"Decision to stick with him? Well he was pitching real well and he's, he really only gave up one hard hit ball we hit some balls really hard and they did too Jones ran a ball down from Butler that was probably out of most ballparks too but Wei-Yin was pitching well the tougher thing was taking him out instead of leaving him in."
