SOUNDBITE (English) Kim Martin, Reeva Steenkamp's cousin:

"Reeva was the first baby that I ever held. I remember I was 12 years old at the time and the first time I was ever asked by anybody if I would like to hold. I remember I was so nervous and I was scared that I would drop her and Auntie June gave her to me and I held her in my arms and I remember she didn't even cry. And I still said, Auntie June said, 'You see, Kimmy, you're a natural, she loves you'. There was a very strong bond from a young age."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Gerrie Nel, prosecutor:

"With the 14th of February 2013, how did you learn about this?"

SOUNDBITE (English) Kim Martin, Reeva Steenkamp's cousin:

"My husband and myself were driving to work... and the radio DJ came on... and then he said, 'Oscar Pistorius'. And I remember the minute he said his name I jumped up in the front seat. And I froze and the next words were 'Allegedly shot his girlfriend'. And I remember saying to my husband, 'I hope to God he is cheating on Reeva.'"

SOUNDBITE (English) Kim Martin, Reeva Steenkamp's cousin:

"I have been for trauma counselling. I'm currently seeing a psychologist. I'm on medication for depression and anxiety. My children are in therapy..."
