Lukas Rosol ended a six-match losing streak on the ATP World Tour on Wednesday by defeating Lukas Lacko of Slovakia in straight sets.

The Czech was a semi-finalist at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna last year. But he was without a tour-level victory since lifting his second trophy at the Winston-Salem Open in August.

In his first-round clash with Lacko, the fifth seed fired five aces and claimed 72 per cent of service points to close out the match 6-3 6-4 in one hour.

He will play Viktor Troicki of Serbia for a place in the quarter-finals.

The pair have played each other five times, with Rosol emerging victorious on three occasions. However, world number 127 Troicki won their most recent encounter in Rome last year.

Rosol is bidding for his third singles title after triumphing on the clay courts of Bucharest in 2013.
