Andres Bakkerund won the World Rally Cross of Turkey event on Sunday. The Norwegian claimed his first win of the season in the penultimate race in Istanbul.

Timmy Hansen, who had already won this season in Franciacorta, took the lead in the start of the race, but was quickly caught up and eventually overtaken by Bakkerund in his Ford Fiesta ST at the end of the starting lap.

The Norwegian also cleverly decided to take his joker lap in the penultimate circuit, and had created a far enough lead that he re-joined the track ahead of Hansen on an empty lap.

Hansen showed persistence and picked up the pace in the circuit, but Bakkerund held his ground and sealed his victory after finishing second at the start of the campaign.

Hansen claimed second place, and Toomas Heikkinen of Finland took third. Petter Solberg, who retired in that match due to mechanical trouble, is still at the top of the championship standings with 250 points.
