  • Intro:

Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum moved into the lead after the third round of the LPGA Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (October 11th).

    Script:

Chella Choi had her problems at the 14th hole during third round play at the LPGA Malaysia on Saturday.

The South Korean decided to hit out of shallow water and it would later cost her a two-stroke penalty after it was ruled that she had grounded her club before making contact with the ball.

The penalty cost Choi dearly after she finished with a birdie at the eighteenth for a three-under 68 that left her four shots off the lead.

Overnight leader So-yeon Ryu had a stumbling start to the round, but a birdie at the twelfth put her back on top at 15-under.

New Zealand's Lydia Ko also had her troubles on Saturday, but saved the round with a birdie at the 18th for a one-under round of 70 that left her four shots off the lead at ten-under.

Also at ten-under, following a three-under 69, is China's Feng Shanshan, who almost holed her approach at the 12th for an eagle.

Continuing her form from Friday was Japan's Ayako Uehara, who set up a birdie at the 14th on her way to a 69 that left her in second place, three strokes off the lead on eleven-under.

Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum made the biggest move on Saturday, finishing the front nine with a long birdie putt.

Then, at the 17th, she tied for the lead with a birdie putt before going on to card a six-under 65 that gave her a three-shot cushion on 14-under ahead of Sunday's final round.
