Two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic recorded his seventh straight win over David Ferrer on Friday for a place in the Shanghai Masters semi-finals.

The top seed broke Ferrer's serve in the second game before claiming the first set 6-4.

Ferrer was broken again at the start of the second set, which Djokovic won 6-2 to take the match in just over an hour and a half.

The 27-year-old now takes on Roger Federer in a mouth-watering last four clash.

In the other side of the draw, Russian Mikhail Youzhny was in confident mood after securing the opening set against Feliciano Lopez. But the Spaniard won this point and the second set to pull level.

Lopez continued the comeback in the third to seal the match 5-7 6-4 6-4.

The 33-year-old's reward is a tie against Frenchman Gilles Simon, who prevailed in a three-setter of his own against Czech Tomas Berdych.
