Nicolas Colsaerts missed a birdie putt on the last hole of his second round at the Portugal Masters on Thursday, narrowly missing out on becoming the first man to card a round of 59 on the European Tour.

"On (inaudible) i eagled 15, drove the green probably just like 10 feet to the hole and then holed that. I realised then that if i birdied the last three it was going to be that famous 59."

"Yeah well, as we all know it is difficult to follow a score that low but yeah, i have always felt pretty comfortable on this course, i have always played well. It never really clicked for me but it kind of did today. I hope that i am going to be able to retain the same frame of mind the next couple of days."
