The parents of Jules Bianchi joined others outside the hospital in Yokkaichi, Japan on Wednesday (8th October) where the Formula One driver continues to receive treatment following his crash at Sunday's Grand Prix at Suzuka.

    Script:

There have been no new statements so far on Wednesday as Jules Bianchi remains in a "critical but stable" condition after his crash at the Japanese Grand Prix in wet conditions on Sunday

It's not yet possible to say if, and to what extent, the 25-year-old Frenchman will recover from his "diffuse axonal injury", where a shearing force has torn tissue throughout the brain and the brain swells.

It is not dissimilar to the injury sustained by seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in a skiing accident last December.

Schumacher is now recovering at home after coming out of a coma.

There is a highly-variable outlook for Bianchi, who has already undergone surgery.

Bianchi's parents, Philippe and Christine Bianchi, his agent Nicolas Todt and brain specialist Professor Gerard were all outside the hospital earlier on Wednesday, before walking inside.
