  • Intro:

Michael Phelps' comeback took a major hit on Monday (6th October), with USA Swimming suspending the 18-time Olympic champion for six months and forcing him to withdraw from next year's world championships.

    Script:

18 time Olympic gold medal winner Michael Phelps has been suspended by USA Swimming for six months and forced to withdraw from next year's world championships after being arrested for driving under the influence for a second time.

The sanctions announced on Monday won't keep Phelps from training with his North Baltimore club, but he won't be allowed to participate in USA Swimming-sanctioned meets until April next year.

The most decorated Olympian of all time won't compete in the world swimming championships in Russia next July and has lost his funding.

Phelps also announced he was entering a six-week, in-patient program last weekend.
