Lawn Mower Racing World Championships tear through England

Tuesday, October 07 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

The rural village of Coneyhurst in West Sussex hosted the Lawnmower Racing World Championships in England on Sunday.

    Script:

If you ever needed an explanation of the intricacies of lawn mower racing, this father's actions say it all.

And, if you ever needed medical advice before trying this out for yourself, listen up.

SOUNDBITE (English): Christopher Plummer, Group 2 Racer

"If you've got spinal problems, then its not a good idea, you know that (shows movement) hits your knees all the time so you wear knee pads and then the banging, its just mad."

    You can see his point.

Some crazed adrenaline junkies choose to ignore the wise man's words and flock to the rural village of Coneyhurst in West Sussex for the annual World Championships.

Now, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg's rivalry may have soured team relations during the F1 World Championships this season but you'll get none of that in Coneyhurst.

SOUNDBITE (English): Chris Thompson, Group 4 World Champion

"I mean it's great rivalry here actually. Last year the guy who eventually won in the end helped me fix my mower and I ended up coming second by a point, so he was actually helping me get out there to try and beat him, and there's a fantastic rivalry and we're all friends really, have a beer off the track, but it is nice to beat all the rest of them!"

    Take note men of Mercedes.
