Prince Carl Philip of Sweden meets Team SCA before next week's Volvo Ocean Race.

There was a distinctly royal flavour to preparations for the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden joined Team SCA onboard their fleet and even tried his hand at steering the fleet.

The Prince who is the 2014-15 patron also met the Volvo Ocean Race CEO Knut Frostad, and was shown around the museum.

Team SCA, an all-female crew, are competing under a Swedish flag in the 12th edition of the race.

The boats will leave next week on the first leg as they set sail for Cape Town, South Africa.

The crews will dock in nine other ports before concluding in Gothenburg, Sweden in June next year.
