Cardinals 'threw victory away' - Matheny

Monday, October 06 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Reaction after the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 in the Major League Baseball National League Division Series.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Mike Matheny, Cardinals manager (talks about the series)

"No, we know this is a good team and offensively they got a lot of potential to do some serious damage. It doesn't matter who they have pitching, they have got good pitchers yet to come. We like what we have got as well and we believe that our offence is going to continue to put together those kind of tough at-bats. But getting out of here with that win yesterday, that was big for us. This one here is fresh on our minds and it was there and we let it slip away. We got to let that go and figure out how to put a good game on day after tomorrow."

SOUNDBITE (English): Don Mattingly, Dodgers manager (talks about the game two win)

"You know, I think we look at - I know I do - I think we do as a team, that just what we talked about yesterday, win is a win, a loss is a loss. We get this win, obviously this is a game that we feel like we have to have. I'm sure they're feeling walking out here that they're fine, that they did what they needed to do. But we did what we needed to do today. It got us back in it. So when we get to St. Louis, need to go win a game to get it back here, or a win two to finish it there."
