Dunhill Links: McIlroy joint-second

Sunday, October 05 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Oliver Wilson leads at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship but Rory McIlroy is well placed going into the final round.

    Script:

Frenchman Alexander Levy shot a third round 68 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship for a share of second place.

The 24-year-old is joined at that mark by three others, including halfway leader Raphael Jacquelin.

Also in second spot is Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who made the biggest move with a course record-equalling 10-under-par 62 -- including 10 birdies.

Rory McIlroy completes the group after he made five successive birdies in his 64 to sit three shots behind new leader Oliver Wilson.

The Englishman shot a 65 at St Andrews to finish 15 under par.

Wilson finished runner-up nine times on the European Tour but lost his card in 2012.

The 34-year-old is ranked 792nd in the world. But a win on Sunday would be worth almost £500,000 and a two-year exemption on the European Tour.
