Stacy Lewis leads in Beijing

Saturday, October 04 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

A second-round score of 68 is enough for America's Stacy Lewis to retain her lead at the LPGA Reignwood Classic in Beijing, China.

    Script:

Not the nicest day for golf in Beijing, but Caroline Masson had a good second round in the LPGA Reignwood Classic.

She hit seven birdies and two bogeys to finish with 68, and end the day with a share of third.

She's alongside Spain's Belen Mozo who finished with her second consecutive round of 69, and this on 17 was particularly special.

Also tied for third are Mirim Lee and Caroline Hedwall.

But its Brittany Lang who remains the main threat to the tournament leader at the halfway mark.

She's 10 under par for the tournament after hitting a 66 as she found some great form on the greens and from the tee.

But Lang will begin the penultimate round two-strokes off leader Stacy Lewis, who maintained her day one lead with a five-under 68.

She hit six birdies and just one bogey as she bids for a 12th career victory.

And with a two-shot lead at 12 under par, she well on course to achieve it.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Stacy Lewis, America:

"It was a day that I just had to stay patient you know. Even coming in there I could have made a few more birdies and didn't quite hit the shots around the greens that I needed to but, still, I shot five-under and made six birdies today so, it was a good day."
