Top seed and world number one Novak Djokovic reached the third round of the China Open in Beijing on Wednesday (1st October), following a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Canada's Vasek Pospisil.

    Script:

Heavy rain prevented any play on the outside courts at the Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Center early on Wednesday,

But world number one, top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic was able to play under the roof of centre court though, with Canada's Vasek Pospisil providing the opposition.

The pair had only met once before, with Djokovic taking a comfortable straight sets win in the Davis Cup World Group last year, and although Djokovic dropped just six points on this occasion, Pospisil put up more of a fight.

Djokovic took the first set 6-3, but overall had to contend with 14 aces from the big-serving Canadian.

Djokovic took his record in Beijing to 21-0 and remains on course for a fifth China Open title following a 6-3, 7-5 victory.

He will face either Dimitrov or Spain's Pablo Andujar, for a place in the last four.
