It was another day of upsets at the Japan Open in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Monday saw an early exit for second seed David Ferrer, but Tuesday saw the tournament's top seed fall as Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka lost to Japanese wild cared entry Tatsuma Ito.

The Australian Open champion never got out of the block and was always playing catch-up against the world number 103.

Ito took the first set- 7-5 and galvanised by the home crowd's support he breezed past Wawrinka in the second set much to the frustration of the Swiss player.

Ito taking the match 7-5 6-2 to secure his biggest career win.

Meanwhile, fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was up against Poland's Michal Przysiezny and the Frenchman tookk the first set 6-4.

Tsonga, who won in Japan in 2009 was then troubled by a hand injury in the second set - eventually losing it to his Polish opponent 7-5.

The two could not be separated in the decisive third set and it went to tie-break where Tsonga had two chances to close out the match.

He was unable to take advantage and Przysiezny, world number 142, closed out the game in two hours and 23 minutes on court for the day's second major upset.
