There were wins for top seed Novak Djokovic, the returning Rafael Nadal and third seed Tomas Berdych at the China Open in Beijing on Tuesday (30th September).

The top three seeds took the court at the China Open in Beijing on Tuesday.

Tomas Berdych started the day up against Feliciano Lopez and dropped just ten points on his serve dismissing the Spaniard 6-1 6-2 in a little over an hour.

The Czech player will now face Viktor Troicki in the next round. 

In his first match back since the US Open semi-finals, Novak Djokovic got off to a slow start against another Spaniard, Guillerme Garcia-Lopez.

Despite dropping his serve twice, he still cruised into the next round with a 6-2 6-1 win.

He extends his winning streak in Beijing to 20 and will now face Vasek Pospisil in the next round as he goes in search of a fifth consecutive title in China

Finally, Rafa Nadal returned to action for the first time in three months following a wrist injury and there were few signs of rust in his game as he brushed Richard Gasquet aside.

The world number two beat the Frenchman 6-4 6-0 in an hour and 18 minutes, it was 13th straight victory aganst Gasquet.

He can look forward to a tie against the winner between Croatia's Ivo Karlovic and German qualifier Peter Gojowczyk.
