  • Intro:

Bayer Leverkusen have scored just two goals in their last four matches heading in to their Champions League Group C match against Benfica at the BayArena on Wednesday.

    Script:

Roger Schmid looks relaxed but he hasn't enjoyed the easiest of starts to his time as Bayer Leverkusen coach.

Leverkusen are third in the Bundesliga but they have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions.

The German side also lost their Champions League Group C opening match 1-0 to Monaco.

Leverkusen need to return to winning ways when they host Benfica on Wednesday.

But Benfica are also keen to gain maximum points after losing to Zenit St Petersburg.

Benfica are top of the Portuguese league and are unbeaten in their last four matches against Leverkusen.

Leverkusen will also be without injured captain Simon Rolfes, Gonzalo Castro, Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Julian Brandt.

Schmid will hope his depleted squad will be able to return to their goal scoring form.

Leverkusen scored 22 goals in their first six competitive games but they have scored just two in their last four matches.
