Al Hilal reach AFC Champions League final as Gyan sees red

  • Intro:

Asamoah Gyan was sent off as Al-Hilal advanced to the final of the Asian Champions League on Tuesday (30th September) despite a 2-1 second leg defeat to Al-Ain.

    Script:

A place in the AFC Asian Champions League final was on offer as Al Hilal hosted Al Ain in the UAE.

Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal took a comfortable 3-0 lead in to the second leg of their semi-final but Al Ain reduced the deficit when Lee Mjung-joo opened the scoring in the tenth minute.

Al Shamrani provided Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal with the all important away goal.

Asamoah Gyan then blew all Al Ain's chances.

Jires Kembo Ekoko did win the game for Al Ain in the 78th minute but the goal proved nothing more than a consolation as Al Hilal progressed to the final on aggregate.

The two time Asian champions will face either South Korea's FC Seoul or Australia's Western Sydney Wanderers over two legs in late October.
