SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United manager (Q: What's your assessment of tonight and a failure to win?)

"It's a result that's difficult to get at this football club. This is a team (Stoke) that when they take the lead they don't venture too far and they're quick on the break. I thought (Victor) Moses was a problem for us tonight at times and we've got to find the answer. Now we couldn't find it tonight and in that final third of the pitch is where we've got to improve. Now whether I have a look at that, make changes, change the system or something, I've got to give the team more options in terms of going forward."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United manager (Q: How secure is your own position as manager?)

"I don't know, you know I think it's my job really to show to the players that there is 32 or 31 games or whatever it is left, to be strong and to show that there is a resilience and you know we find ourselves in a position where we're not winning games and we've got to put that right."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United (Q: The fans are directing their venom at you, but to what extent is it damaging the confidence of the players?)

"Well I don't think that was really evident tonight if I looked at my players. I thought we just came up short with quality, the discipline, the fight in the team was good, but it's a tough agenda to come here and get a result at Stoke, they're a tough team. I thought they played well tonight and I have to look at the picture that's going forward. Now we've got another tough game going to Swansea and we need to get ourselves right, get ourselves in shape to do that and that's what we're going to try and do this week. We're obviously going to work hard on that final third and see if we can find a solution. And really guys that's all I want to say tonight, but thank you for listening."
