Justin Rose and Jamie Donaldson react to Europe's Ryder Cup victory.

Paul McGinley's European team celebrated at Gleneagles on Sunday evening (28th September) after retaining the Ryder Cup with a win by 16 and a half points to 11 and a half points over the USA.

"You know what, I think this Ryder Cup team was something definitely special. The last couple of Ryder Cups have been close, they've been down to the wire - obviously home and away… and the 'Miracle at Medinah' it was what it was, it was an amazing comeback and I think that we weren't necessarily the better team. This week we were the better team."

SOUNDBITE (English) Justin Rose, Europe:

"You know, as a player you're always going to look at your individual record - and I was four points out of five this week, and, you know, being undefeated or unbeaten in any way that was huge, absolutely. And I played the last hole the last couple of nights one down. I won them both times just to square the match… and, you know, I give credit to my partner Martin Kaymer last night who said to me 'we deserve half a point out of this match'. And I felt the same today, I said 'I deserve half a point out of this match'."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jamie Donaldson, Europe: (Asked to sum up feelings after hitting winning shot).

"It's difficult obviously it came down to my match and it was one of those things where you've just got to get your head down and concentrate on your point. The crowds were getting bigger every hole as my match came to the end, and the cameras were coming. And, you know, I just tried to get my head down and secure my point - and the fact that it came to my match was great, but at the same time it's all about the team and the team won - and that's what it's all about."
