Rory McIlroy, and Graeme McDowell provide some early reaction to the singles session at the Ryder Cup on Sunday (28th September).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Rory McIlroy (Q: Was that performance out there near your best golf?)

"Yes it was. I knew that I needed to get off to a fast start just to let the boys behind me see a bit of blue on the board. I know what's expected of me being one of the leaders of this team, and thankfully I was just able to deliver today."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Rory McIlroy (Q: Rickie Fowler is the world number ten and you beat him well?)

"Yes I mean I was really up for it today. I was probably more up for this day than I was for, that I was for the two final rounds of the Major that I won this year. I was really pumped up and I was really excited to play Rickie and yes, it's just great to get a point on the board for Europe and I'm just going to go and cheer the boys on now and hopefully we can bring it home."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Graeme McDowell (Q: After a slow start, you weren't phased by trailing Spieth early on?)

"Yes we talked about it last night in the team room. It doesn't matter if you're two, three,four down. Just try and win the next hole because it sends a message from the crowd round the golf course to your teammates. It's obvious what are European cheers and what are USA cheers. So I dug in. I got off to a slow start against a great player. I just tried to win the next hole and that was all I tried to do for the front nine. Jordan (Spieth) missed a putt on seven to go four up and that was a little chink in the armour. And then all of a sudden I found a different gear and managed to play some good golf and I'm very proud obviously to lead this team off and thankfully get some blue on the board in the end."
