Daley Sinkgraven was the goalscoring hero as Heerenveen beat leaders PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday (27th September), in a match which saw both sides reduced to ten men.

With Ajax winning on Saturday, PSV Eindhoven knew a win at Heerenveen would maintain their three point lead in the Eredivisie.

Heerenveen themselves are going well in the league and they went close in the 8th minute through Daley Sinkgraven.

PSV's first chance came in the 27th minute. Quick play down the right flank had the Heerenveen defence out of shape, yet Florian Josefzoon couldn't quite finish.

Six minutes later, PSV dispossessed the home side deep in their own half and again had them out of position.

Josefzoon looked to be in behind yet fell under a challenge from Stefano Marzo.

The referee produced the red and Heerenveen were to play with 10 men for remaining 60 minutes,

PSV were reduced to ten men in the 68th minute, Joshua Brenet was given his marching orders for a foul on Mark Uth.

Replays showed Brenet's high foot, yet the foul looked mistimed more than malicious.

The evening up of the numbers seemed to galvanise the home side.

Playing it out from the back, Luciano Slagveer engineered a quick move with this one two and he found Sinkgraven in the box.

That was good enough for the win as Heerenveen move to within a point of PSV, who now sit level on 15 points with Ajax.
