Ekstrom wins DTM Holland from Wittman

    Swede Mattias Ekstrom secured Audi's first success of the DTM season, thanks to victory in round nine at Zandvoort in the Netherlands on Sunday (28th September).

    Script:

    The Dunes of Zandvoort in Netherlands the setting for the ninth round of the DTM.

    Marco Wittman had secured the title in the last round in Germany & he went off from the front row of the grid here.

    The German managing to take Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller on the first bend.

    His fellow German had set a new lap record in securing pole on Saturday.

    After lifting the title last time out in Lausitzring, Wittmann was quick to pull away.

    Adrien Tambay was another Audi driver not having the start he would of wanted. The Frenchman crashing out here.

    Brit Paul di Resta was undertaken and he too spun out the race.

    The crashes continued with Augusto Farfus ruining Daniel Juncadella's Mercedes here.

    Back with the race leaders, Mattias Ekstrom had taken the lead from champion Wittman and the Swede held on for victory here in Zandavoort.

    Wittmann was 7.4 seconds back - with BMW's Martin Tomczyk delighted to make up the podium, with his first since August, 2012.
