  • Intro:

Julien Benneteau has progressed to the final of the Malaysian Open after beating Ernests Gulbis.

    Script:

The semi-final of the Malaysian Open saw Julien Benneteau face off with Ernests Gulbis for the third time this season.

The occasion proved too much for Gulbis.

Late in the first set the Latvian smashed his racquet after losing serve and essentially handing the set to Benneteau.

Second-seed Gulbis was aiming for his third title of the season.

But Benneteau was too good in the end.

The all-important break in the second set came in the ninth game.

At 5-4 up, Benneteau served out the match to win 6-4, 6-4.

He'll now take on either Kei Nishikori or Jarkko Nieminen in the final.
