SOUNDBITE: (English) Webb Simpson (asked what he texted Tom Watson to convince him to make Simpson a captain's pick):

"I texted him, something like 'I know it's a really tough decision for you, I know Chris (Kirk) just won and I know Bill (Haas) is playing good and you even have other options than that, but.... I really, really, really want to be on the team. I want to, represent United States and I love this format and I'll do anything to be on the team.' Something to that extent and, all he says back was, and he texted real quick, I saw the three little dots on the iphone, I'm surprised he was awake, and he said 'this is a tough decision Webb.' And that's all he said. And so I'm like, 'I didn't make the team. He's going to call me, I didn't make the team.' But then he called me 30 minutes later and, and he asked me why I thought he should put me on the team. And (at) four-thirty in the morning that's a tough question to be asked, I'm still laying in bed. So I just told him, my passion for the Ryder Cup from my one experience and, how much I cared about it and how much I believed that, I though I could bring to the team. Nothing over the other guys but just, 'hey, Medinah's still there. I still think about it. I want another shot.'"

SOUNDBITE: (English) Webb Simpson (asked if he wants to reclaim the two points Ian Poulter won from him at the last Ryder Cup in Medinah):

"I do want those points back. I'm sure he wants to keep them as well, but.... yes, any chance I have to, to play against the guy who seems like he's, in Ryder Cup form the best, that they've seen, anybody wants that chance, and when I, when I kind of had the draw on singles last Sunday, or at Medinah on Sunday I was excited, and I think, as athletes you want, you want a challenge and you want to play a guy who's playing good golf. So that was us in Medinah."
