Team Europe continued their preparations ahead of the 40th Ryder Cup at Gleneagles on Wednesday.

Three European groups of four practised on the Jack Nickalus-designed PGA Centenary Course to try and get to grips with some of the challenges they will be facing this weekend.

In front the galleries, World number one Rory McIlroy joined French rookie Victor Dubuisson, German two-time Major winner Martin Kaymer and final automatic qualifier Graeme McDowell.

Ryder Cup ace Ian Poulter shared his round with Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia and Henrik Stenson after beginning at the ninth hole.

Debutants Stephen Gallacher and Jamie Donaldson were the last to come up the 18th together with experienced duo Lee Westwood and Thomas Bjorn.

Two years ago at Medinah the likes of Ian Poulter, Bubba Watson and Keegan Bradley really got the crowd going and fans here at Gleneagles are hoping for more of the same this time around.

VOX POP (English): Graham, spectator from Glasgow, Scotland: (On supporters / spectators at Ryder Cup):

"Yeah, it was interesting last time round they had... Poulter and I think Bubba Watson were actually getting the crowd to make some noise when they were playing, which is not really golf, but it kind of worked - and that's probably what the atmosphere of the Ryder Cup's all about. So, hopefully that will happen again. I think that's a good thing."

The 2014 Ryder Cup commences on Friday with excitement among fans in Scotland - and around the world - building fast.
