Hong Kong won their first gold medal at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday, after rower Lok Kwan Hoi claimed his victory in the men's lightweight singles sculls event. Kwan Hoi clinched the title in just a minute and 43 seconds, with Lee Hakbeom of South Korea taking silver and Dushiant Dushyant of India getting bronze.

Although China won four golds in the sport, it was South Korea who made headlines that day. Kim Yeji became the champion after a brilliant effort in the women's single sculls, winning the country's first ever gold in rowing.

But the South Koreans didn't fare too well in the women's beach volleyball preliminary sets, after their seemingly imminent victory in the second set was overturned thanks to a clever defensive block by the Thai duo Yuka Phokongploy and Usa Tenpaksee.

This saw them convert their first match point in the set, and they went on to win in straight sets of 22-20 and 23-21.
