Jim Furyk says being tagged underdogs is "kind of fun" as the United States of America look to reclaim the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jim Furyk (on heading into his ninth Ryder Cup):

"It's been an honour. When you look at, look at all the players that.... that have represented our country and played for the United States, to play in nine of them now, and really Phil (Mickelson) and I are the only ones to play in that many, it's something I'm very proud of. There's been a lot of players that have won a lot more than Phil and I have won, and I think that's the one point we're disappointed about, but, be nice to change the tide this week."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jim Furyk:

"The underdog role is one that, is kind of fun to be honest with you. I went up against Nick Faldo my first time in a Ryder Cup (in 1997). There wasn't one person that expected me to beat Nick Faldo that day, so the underdog role is great. I mean you've got everything to win and nothing to lose and I never really looked at it as intimidation, I looked at it as a great opportunity and, I think everyone else would look at it that way as well."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jim Furyk (asked if the US players will take added motivation from the final day collapse in Medinah two years):
"I guess the best way I can say that is I really don't think the 24 guys need any more inspiration than the fact that we're, that we're in a Ryder Cup. I mean.... there's nothing that one of those guys could say over there to get me any more excited about the event, there's nothing that happened in the past.... I'm about excited as you can get to play and, I'm sure I look it up here with my usual personality!"
