Viktoria Plzen remained at the top of the Czech Liga after a comfortable victory over mid-table Baník Ostrava on Sunday.

In front of their home crowd at the Doosen Arena, Plzen's Jan Chramosta won a penalty after being brought down by Filip Kasa, who was shown a straight red card by referee Radek Prihoda.

Daniel Kolar stepped up to confidently convert the spot-kick.

Miroslav Koubek's side went into the break 1-0 up and last season's league runners-up soon doubled their advantage.

24-year-old attacking midfielder Ondrej Vanek headed in at the far post to seal the win 15 minutes from time.

Baník right-back Ondrej Sukup failed to track Vanek's run.

Plzen's victory means they retain their one-point lead at the division's summit, ahead of reigning champions Sparta Prague.
