USA Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson and his Europe counterpart Paul McGinley preview the tournament at Gleneagles, which tees off on Friday.

"It is great to be on Scottish soil again. It has been two years since I have been named the captain and now here we are. We are off and running. The team is in great spirits. We had some wonderful discussions at the Atlanta Airport before we boarded the plane. And everybody is in high spirits right now. We have come here with a purpose and we hope that we fulfil that purpose."

SOUNDBITE (English): Paul McGinley, Europe captain

"Yeah, we are ready as well too. It is obvious and we are looking forward to it. It is a big challenge ahead. Two great teams. It will be tight like it always is and I think we are looking forward to it like all the public is as well."

SOUNDBITE (English): Tom Watson, US captain

"Well on paper, everyone thinks that the Europeans are the favourites -- and rightfully so. They have some great players in the team. They are not to be taken anything but very seriously by our team. But I can assure you that our team is here to win. They believe that they can win. I believe in the fact that our team can win."

"Well yeah, I am well prepared. I would call it a skeleton plan. It is a kind of a broad plan. And we will let things evolve -- watch the practice rounds, see where the form is and assess where everybody is at and try and make it a firmer plan for Friday morning."
