US Open finalist Caroline Wozniacki made light work of Carla Suarez Navarro in the quarter-finals of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo on Friday.

Second seed Wozniacki - 2010 champion here - dictated play from the back of the court, coming through 6-3 6-3 and setting up a semi-final meeting against another Spaniard - the up-and-coming 20-year-old Garbine Muguruza.

Muguruza winning through against Australian Casey Dellacqua in three sets.

In the other half of the draw, last year's runner-up and top seed Angelique Kerber took just over an hour to cruise past World No 13 Dominika Cibulkova.

    The German winning 6-3, 6-0.

Kerber would play the winner of the quarter-final tie between Ana Ivanovic and Lucie Safarova.

The Serbian took the first and took a double break in the second to seal a 6-3, 6-2 over the Czech.

It was a significant victory for Ivanovic, who had come into the match with a zero-five record against seventh seed Safarova.

Kerber - Ivanovic is a repeat of the second round here last year, and Ivanovic will be in confident mood after displacing the her Safarova hoodoo.
