With Austria's gold secured, Great Britain had a shot at silver ahead of the women's 470 medal race at the sailing world championships in Spain.

But the Austrians lead from the start - Britain's Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark unable to match their pace.

Needing a win to have any chance, Mills and Clark had a battle on their hands with Japan instead.

The Brits held off the challenge however and crossed the line in second place.

The conditions making it a difficult race according to Mills.

    SOUNDBITE: Hannah Mills, Great Britain

"The wind just before the start did a big shift and came in completely off the land off the buildings so it was patchy, shifty, really tricky to predict. And yeah we just sailed with what we saw and luckily that came out good for us today."

In the end, they had to settle for bronze, New Zealand claiming the silver, Austria the gold.
