SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Newcastle United manager:
(on large sections of Newcastle's support refraining from vocalising their criticism of him)
"And I have to say thank you to them for that, because I think big sections of our fans more-or-less took a neutral position today. I don't expect them to have been supporting me, or in any way wanting to cheer for me personally, but I think they just took a view of loving their football club and just seeing what happened today, and I think we did enough on the pitch to win a few friends today. I think our fans are realistic, they know the top six is beyond us, you know, we can't compete with them clubs at the moment, but we should be competing seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, we've proven we can do that in the past. We're well short of it at the moment, and I'm not going to jump up and down here for a 2-2 draw at home to Hull. But it's a stepping stone to that area where we need to be, where this club needs to be."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Bruce, Hull City manager:
"The quality of the two goals was fantastic. The disappointing thing is now we've been up four times in a week, twice against West Ham, and again, today, two goals up, and it could've been a fantastic start for us, instead it's just a decent start, which is the disappointing thing. And the disappointing thing is individual error, you know we've given the ball away in a horrible area for the first one, the goalkeeper's positioning for the first one, and the kid's caught out for the second one, which has cost us, and at this level, as I've said to you, you get punished."
