SOUNDBITE (English) Jens Voigt, new hour record holder:(On when he knew he'd break the record)

"Last Friday when I went home for the weekend I thought 'OK, I think I have a fair chance. I think it's going to work out'. Then after today after 30 minutes I was like, 'OK, I'm still feeling good. I still have some reserves.' After half an hour today I thought 'OK. This is going to work out'."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jens Voigt, new hour record holder:(On what is the closest thing in cycling to the kind of suffering he experienced today)

"The closest to compare would be if you're on a breakaway and it's the last 10-15 kilometres and you're trying to make it before getting caught by the peloton, that's something like the way I suffered today. You probably all saw that every now and then I went a little bit out of the seat just to relax my behind a little bit. I hardly can walk anymore. I had to walk up a set of stairs come here. I was almost close to ask Tim to carry me."
