Player reactions after the opening round of the Wales Open at Celtic Manor Resort

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Joost Luiten, the Netherlands, leader at -6:

"Yeah, no, I'm very happy. Six-under opening round's always good. Made some nice putts at the end. Just a very solid round, just missed one green which was a bogey on 17. But some solid golf from tee to green and then you just have to make some putts."

SOUNDBITE (English) Nicolas Colsaerts, Belgium, tied second at -5:

"Very pleased. You know, I was off with Tommy Fleetwood who got off to a great start, he was quickly under par -- and I kind of took over at the end of the round. You know, we both played quite well all day, basically. And, you know, it's always good when you have a playing partner that kind of pulls you into that good momentum, and it's exactly what I did."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jamie Donaldson, Wales, -1:

"Well, I'm just trying to, you know, just play every hole as it comes. You know, I hit a lot of good shots, I hit a lot of shots to where I wanted to. Then I hit quite a few shots to sort of 20-25 feet [from the flag]. I mean, over the course of the day I probably didn't hit it close enough to make enough putts, and you know when I did I didn't make them either, so... You know, overall it was a so-so day, and one-under was a pretty fair reflection of how I played -- I didn't hit it close enough to the flag to enable myself to make enough putts."
