Swiss Super League leaders Basel travelled to struggling Grasshopper on Saturday.
Despite being second from bottom of the table, the hosts took the lead after Anatole Ngamukol's cool finish into the bottom corner.
With half-time looming, Basel levelled after a fine team-move was finished off by Luca Zuffi. The reigning champions strung seven passes together in that move.
In virtually the last moment of the half, Michael Dingsdag's free-kick evaded everyone and bounced into the back of the net.
By the 70th minute, Paulo Sousa had made all three of his substitutions but Japan's Yoichiro Kakitani remained on the bench.
Basel defensive midfielder Taulant Xhaka was then miles out of position and played Munas Dabbur onside, who set-up Michael Lang to make it 3-1.
Matters were then compounded for the visitors when Davide Calla was shown a second yellow card for a rash challenge on Yonic Ravet.
