Sebastien Ogier continued to set the pace early on the third and final day of the World Rally of Australia on Sunday.

The Frenchman held an 11.8. seconds lead over Volkwagen teammate Jari-Matti Latvala his closest challenger.

After conceding 2.0-seconds in the opening stage of the three remaining, Ogier regained 1.4-seconds only for Latvala to regain another 2.5-seconds in the Wedding Bells stage.

Ogier was fastest in through the Bucca area of the track, yet only seventh fast through the morning session.

As a result, Latvala recording the second fastest time by Latvala in the Wedding Bells stage, the Finn sat just 8.7 seconds off Ogier going into the afternoon.

As the afternoon skipped into action, Latvala looked to make his move on the Frenchman Ogier.

Try as he did the Finn could only claw back another 1.9 seconds off Ogier's lead.

In the end, Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia won 11 of the 20 stages over the three days in Australia.

After more than 313 kilometres (193 miles) of competition, Ogier finished with a winning margin of 6.8 seconds over Latvala for his sixth win of the season and 22nd of his career.

The Frenchman now has 214 championship points, a lead of 50 over his Finnish team mate with three races remaining.
